Question by Sunflower Ted: How to pay for auctions on the Yahoo Japan website?
Does anyone know of a method to pay for auctions on the Japanese Yahoo auction website? We have both a US and a Japanese Yahoo ID, but it seems that most of the Japanese auction payment methods involve credit cards based in Japan (they don’t like it when I try to use katakana for our US-based credit cards). Has anyone used paypal, or any other method of payment for an auction in Japan? Can US Yahoo IDs be used to pay for Japan Yahoo items?

Thanks –

1. You cannot use US Yahoo ID for Yahoo Japan auction.
If you have a Yahoo Japan ID, why don’t you use it?
2. Most of the Japanese sellers do not ship internationally.
3. Most of the Japanese sellers do not have PayPal account.
4. Some sellers accept bidders from overseas as long as you make your payment in Japanese yen through 1. Bank transfer, 2. International Postal Money Order, 3. Cash payment through mail. In either case, you do not need a credit card.
5. You need to communicate with them in Japanese language before you place your bid.

I have 7-year experience with Yahoo Japan auction and 6-year experience with eBay auction. I can go both ways and I know almost everything about them.
