whats the difference between 1rst, 2nd, 3rd and so on any ways the age?

1st and 2nd are basically the same things. The first came in black or white with a plastic face plate and shiny mirror back. And the 2nd gen was made of aluminum like the ipod mini’s and came in a bunch of fun colors. Both of these could hold pictures. THe new 3rd gen nano has a faceplate made of aluminum and a shiny mirror back plate but it can play video unlike the 1st two.
